Tragedy in Greenville — UPDATE

Charles Alston of nc.ihigh.com is reporting that Greenville J.H. Rose High football player Jaquan Waller died after the Rampants' game against Wilmington Hoggard on Friday night in Greenville.

Alston updated some of the earlier information which had the young man passing shortly after midnight. In fact, Waller was revived at Pitt Memorial Hospital then placed on life support. Due to his family's wishes, he was removed from that early Saturday afternoon and died a short time later.

What terrible tragedy this is. You never know when something like this is going to happen. Football is a violent sport but nobody who puts on the pads expects to die playing it.

Certainly our thoughts are with Jaquan's family, friends and teammates.
