NCHSAA releases championship pairings

The N.C. High School Athletic Association has released the pairings for its girls and boys basketball championships this weekend. For the first time since 2004, there are no teams from The Wilson Daily Times coverage area playing for a title.

This year two schools — Kernersville Bishop McGuiness in 1-A and Gastonia Forestview in 3-A — are playing for the boys and girls titles.

Graham (28-3) vs. Salisbury (28-3), noon

2-A boys
Pittsboro Northwood (20-5) vs. Shelby (28-2), 2:30 p.m.

4-A girls
Durham Hillside (26-5) vs. West Charlotte (27-3), 5 p.m.

4-A boys
Fayetteville Terry Sanford (28-3) vs. Winston-Salem Mount Tabor (30-1), 7:30 p.m.

At Raleigh
Reynolds Coliseum
1-A girls
East Bladen (26-2) vs. Kernersville Bishop McGuiness (28-4), noon

1-A boys
Weldon (26-1) vs. Kernersville Bishop McGuiness (30-2), 2:30 p.m.

3-A girls
Greensboro Dudley (29-3) vs. Gastonia Forestview (27-4), 5 p.m.

4-A boys
Northern Guilford (29-3) vs. Gastonia Forestview (25-6), 7:30 p.m.



Note: the Eastern champion is designated as the home team and will wear the light colored uniform in these NCHSAA championship games.
