Lady Bruins vs. Dudley — again

Beddingfield will meet Greensboro Dudley in the N.C. High School Athletic Association girls basketball 3-A East Regional semifinal on Thursday evening at 8:30 p.m. in Greenville Rose's "Rose Garden."

This will be the fourth meeting in the last five regionals between the Lady Bruins and Lady Trojans, who won in 2005 and 2007. Beddingfield defeated Dudley in the regional final on the way to the 2006 state title.

South Central and Rockingham County play the opener Thursday.

All the regional pairings are on the NCHSAA Web site.

  1. Paul, a couple of interesting things about the Ladies 3A brackets. The West has dominated the East over the last 12 years in the championship games. South Central has finished undefeated 3 straight years yet has not made the championship game & Dudley has not got a state title either despite all their sucess.

  2. THC,

Dudley's regional futility is amazing considering the talent it's had over the past four years. This could be the year for the Lady Trojans but they've got to beat Beddingfield first!

  3. One more thing on Dudley, isn't it ridiculous the Lady Trojans have to travel 3 hours to the east for the regional when the West Regional is being playing in the Greensboro Coliseum?

I wish Wilson still host the East Regionals but those days are long gone.

  5. good call, Anonymous. I don't know why every year I want to call Dudley teams the "Trojans" or "Lady Trojans." Do me a favor and check back here next March and make sure I don't do it again!
